മന്നത്ത് പത്മനാഭൻ എന്ന വ്യക്തിയുടെ പ്രാധാന്യം അദ്ദേഹം മുന്നിൽ നിന്ന് നയിച്ച സാമൂഹിക നവോത്ഥാനങ്ങൾ നാടിന് പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് നായർ സമുദായംഗങ്ങൾക്ക് അന്ന് (60 -70 കളിൽ) ഉണ്ടായ കാലാനുസൃതമായ മാറ്റങ്ങൾ തെളിയിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. നിർഭാഗ്യവശാൽ മന്നം നൽകിയ ദിശാബോധം ,പലവിധ മതരാഷ്ട്രീയ പ്രേരണകളാലും കൈമോശം വന്ന് തുടങ്ങി. കഴിഞ്ഞ 2 ദശകങ്ങളായി വിദ്യാസമ്പന്നരായ പൗരൻമാർ പിന്തിരിപ്പൻ ആചാരങ്ങളിലും വിശ്വാസങ്ങളിലേക്കും തിരിച്ചു പോകുന്നുണ്ട് എന്ന് വിലയിരുത്താനുള്ള സാഹചര്യമാണ് ഇപ്പോഴുള്ളത്. കാലാകാലങ്ങളായി ഒരു ശരാശരി നായർക്ക് ഉണ്ടാകാൻ സാധ്യതയുള്ള സവിശേഷതകൾ എന്തെന്നാൽ താൻ ജൻമം കൊണ്ട് ഉന്നതകുലജാതനാണ്, ചുറ്റും കാണുന്ന മനുഷ്യരിൽ തന്റെ കൂട്ടരെ കണ്ടുപിടിച്ചെടുക്കാനും സംവദിക്കാനുമുള്ള നിരന്തരമായ ആഗ്രഹം , അതിപ്പോ എവിടെ ഏത് നിലയിലായിലും . ഇപ്പോൾ കുറച്ച് ക്ഷയിച്ചെങ്കിലും വലിയ പാരമ്പര്യമുള്ള തറവാടാണ് എന്റേത് എന്നൊരു പ്രഖ്യാപനം മിക്കവാറും ഉണ്ടാകും. ചട്ടമ്പി സ്വാമിയേയും മന്നത്ത് പത്മനാഭനെയും കേളപ്പനെയും പോലുള്ള സാമൂഹിക പരിഷ്കർത്താക്കൾ ജാതിയുടെ ആചാരങ്ങൾ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച് നവോത്ഥാനം തുടങ്ങി വച്ചുവെങ്കിലും, ഇന്നും പ്രഖ്യാപിത യുക്തിബോധത്തിലും , ...

This is the era of development, India is aiming to become an economic superpower.World attention is on us. Our GDP growth is one of the highest in the world. So as an Indian we have every reason to be proud of our nation. But is this all we need? Does economic growth, literacy, stable democracy etc ensure a prosperous society in the future? Society and its stake holders have a number of responsibilities on its shoulders of which the most important one creating a responsible and efficient new generation which can take over the reins from the present.We have a human resource development ministry which sets up such goals, but where we are losing the directions.. Living here for 29 years and working for over 6 years, I have lately realized that the life here is getting different, tougher,insecure for several reasons some within our control and more outside our control..same is happening in all parts of Kerala, as informed by some of my friends living across the state. Though we are at the best of freedom ,it seems like we are falling into the arms of slavery by Spirituality and also cultivating within us some seeds of arrogance bred by political affiliation. As this reality is said aloud the family, friends, relatives ,anyone known first crosses their lips,then urges us to cross ours..whole society crosses their lips..if still any one speaks out then following questions erupt.. Are you against Spirituality? Dont you believe in GOD? Are you not a part of a religion? Dont you go to temples? Dont you like festivals? Dont you like celebration? Dont you have a sense of social unity? Dont you have political affiliation? Are you against dem...

Dr.Krishna Iyyer passed away. He was 83 years just short of seeing 1000 full moons. He would have seen more if not for the unfortunate incident that took his life in the early hours of 26th August 2009. Yesterday we were having onam celebrations at office and for preparing the athappookkalam I had started to office by about 4.30 am. Just after 6 am amma rung me to inform the sadnews. It was a shock for me, probably for all his students. He was not just a good teacher but a unique teacher with his style of teaching that helped so many students who hated Mathematics to love it and study better..my student life is a testimonial to it. I used to meet him almost every day in the evening..along the very avenue from Kawdiar to Vellayambalam..(as the case is to every one who travels in the stretch). Be it rain or cold, morning or evening,we used to find him on gentle strolls in the streets,when he find us a pleasent smile filled with happiness appears accompanied by a firm grip on our hands .....

Blemishing thoughts popped up, Loitering in the back yard of mind; Gloomy faces spoke out the fraility, In the midst nonetheless we saw,others just watched. Somewhere there was a bit of heldup emotions, Making up the hearts heavy to bear; Heavier it felt,both longed to throw at eachother: Stars lost their way in the solitude of sky. Morning called 'wake up ,you are not dead; Days are long,none could wait that long 'Fight or flight the paths leading ahead'. Somewhere we listened,voices from inside To the songs that our hearts were singing ; Then infront lie the whole world , Bit by bit it revealed,an unventured world Dawn we had started to end in dusk And again we now start not to end But for every other dawn waiting.

Moving around in gentle strolls A sunny day and splendid sky, Riverine shore bore a solitude smile A bird in blue sat along the thorny bush, Gazing over the scintillating waters, Some where it shot down the surface But in vain for its prey quicker , Shall I stop in to watch it again? A question frequently asking self. As I waited on the sandy bank, A whole bunch of past falling, Out from the veiled hearts; Showy past so glorious,it seems for its charm filled fast around but then what its now to seek again? Blanched hearts now and smile so pale, Time drifted the charm then so high, Sat we around as if nothing more . The blue bird now it starts again; crossing over the silver line, and back with life on beeks. Silver lines of life to be crossed ?, though at vain Yes its time it rolls on forth; but never back? But the bird teaches another lesson, And I ask again myself ' now to watch or to be watched?'

The word 'recession' has been falling on my ears for last 2-3 years mostly from my friends abroad.Comparing recession in synonym to a cyclone thats rapidly approaching to fill our life with agony was the general approach..then a lot of reading..on recession..articles from Deloitte, Mckinsey improved the knowledge... Even after such efforts of knowing the situation, nothing seemed to have touched me..no one in close circle too..my parents n relatives who were mostly Govt servants were supposed to be immune to such economic down turns. So we were waiting. Our team at office was good n lively. Majority being bachelors , spent most of their evenings with lavish parties..May be most of them might have saved (I pray so)... The IBS termination episode started as an eye opener...never before had we heard about mass termination in a firm in Kerala since the slow down early this decade.
